ABOUT ADRIENNE

Adrienne has a passion
for creators and creations.

Adrienne took an interest in ceramics and creative writing during high school at Horace Mann and studied Art History and French Language and literature at Brandeis University. Adrienne created large-scale abstract installation art during her college years. This has served her well in fully understanding the intense challenges that creators face when safeguarding their works, whether physically or through their intellectual property rights.

To learn the business of art, Adrienne continued her studies, receiving an M.A. from Christie’s Education in Connoisseurship and Art Market Studies. While at Christie’s, Adrienne learned the importance of the art market in establishing fiscal value and impacting an artist’s legacy. With this understanding, Adrienne embarked on a career in law. Her goal was to gain the knowledge and skills needed to protect, defend and monetize the rights and legacies of visual artists.

Adrienne found the opportunity to hone these skills at Artists Rights Society (ARS),where she has served as the Director of Legal Affairs. She has worked on behalf of the most famous of artists and estates from around the world (e.g., Picasso, Matisse,Rothko) and has provided counsel to numerous unknown artists. Adrienne has seen careers grow and has been behind the scenes supporting up-and-coming artists who have become household names. Adrienne has set the scene and drafted the necessary agreements to allow for these artists to embark on their first solo exhibitions.

Adrienne has been recognized with a number of accolades, including a Distinguished Alumni Award and an Art Law Alumni Award from Brooklyn Law School, and an Outstanding Leadership Contribution Award from the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law.

Adrienne is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and an active member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA). She has served in various leadership roles on ABA committees including as Publication’s Officer, Editor-in-Chief of Landslide® Magazine, Chair of the Content Advisory Board, Lead Copyright Editor of the Annual Review of intellectual Property Law, and Chair of the International Intellectual Property Law Task Force. Ms. Fields is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Entertainment Arts and Sports Law Section (EASL) and a member of the Bar Association of the City of New York.

Adrienne is a frequent speaker and has been quoted by journalists on a variety of topics, including in the New York Times in an article titled, Art Experts Warn of a Surging Market in Fake Prints. She has been sought after as an arbitrator, an expert and a trusted business advisor with knowledge in important arts and entertainment disputes.
